ok i just realized that on the gems’ homeworld planet water might not be nearly as abundant as it is on earth cause the gems don’t need it for survival
imagine being lapis and thinking you’re weak and useless cause no water until you fall onto a planet that’s like SEVENTY PERCENT WATER and suddenly you can do everything.
